Dia de La Raza, or “Day of the People” is a holiday celebrated around Latin America on Oct. 12, the same day the United States recognizes as Columbus Day. Dia de La Raza celebrates Mexican indigenous traditions, as well as the mestizo and U.S. indigenous people who have contributed to the prosperity of the Americas. It will use art, music and culture tools for bringing together diverse stakeholders to empower a marginalized community faced with a lack of civic engagement. Longmont’s annual Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration is the Longmont Museum’s signature event and the largest Day of the Dead celebration in Colorado, attracting more than 5,000 people to the exhibit, family event, and related programming. Zarco will be the featured artist this fall. Celebrating our 11th anniversary this year, the celebration demonstrates how a diverse community can come together to share a common desire – to honor our ancestors and keep their memories alive.

Dia de Los Muertos Festival
Xico Inc. developed the original Día de los Muertos festival in the Valley of the Sun. This festival traditionally is held each year on the first weekend in November in downtown Chandler. It includes on-going entertainment, a community altar, ethnic cuisine, folk art vendors and a traditional candlelight procession. The festival showcases performing artists and is best known for its one-of-a-kind masked performances using the masks of Zarco Guerrero.

48th Annual Heard Museum Guild Indian Fair & Market Saturday March 4, 2006 through Sunday, March 5, 2006

The Heard Museum Guild Indian Fair & Market is one of the most prestigious art events in the entire Southwest. More than 600 of the top Native American artists -including Zarco Guerrero show and sell their work directly to the public during this weekend. Held on the museum grounds, the Show & Sale provides an opportunity to enjoy both traditional and contemporary Native American arts.

Look for Zarco's Fabulous Masks at Area 1 Booth #F-06 . The weekend features native foods like frybread and Hopi piki bread. Entertainment includes some of the best known names in Native American music and dance. Admission includes all events, plus unlimited entry to museum galleries.
